About the Legends

The Slammer & Squire shows traces of the Hall of Famers that helped design it, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen. These two men were innovators in the sport at their time and contributed, in many ways, to the sport of golf as we know it today.

Sarazen was the first player to win the Career Grand Slam (US Open, PGA Championship, British Open and The Masters) and his invention of the modern sand wedge also left his mark on the game.

Snead, famed for his playing style, was nicknamed "Slammin' Sammy," for having the so-called "perfect swing." He was also known for a very creative short game, pioneering use of the sand wedge for short shots from grass.
